The CDC is organizing a special quarantine flight to transport 17 American citizens from the Canary Islands to Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska following a deadly hantavirus outbreak aboard the Dutch cruise ship MV Hondius. The controlled evacuation via government aircraft aims to limit public exposure to the virus, which has killed three people aboard the vessel and requires close, prolonged contact to transmit between individuals.
